LIST OF RECORDSThe list of records to follow indicates the location of the various state court files for Rhode Island Judiciary. Files for cases more recent than those on this list are still stored at their respective courts. Although this list indicates the location of the bulk of the records, it does not guarantee that a specific individual record will be at the listed location. Specific case files may have been retained by a court when the bulk of the records for that year were transferred to storage or a court may have requested the temporary return of a particular case to the court. For that reason, it is highly recommended that researchers telephone the Judicial Records Center (JRC) in advance of their visit in order to verify the availability of a record. * Restricted access cases must be requested from the courts and cannot be viewed at the JRC. Please note that no original probate records or Traffic Tribunal records can be accessed through the JRC. All probate matters are heard at the town or city level. Thus, requests for probate records must be directed to the appropriate town clerk. All Traffic Tribunal records must be requested through that court.
